“Everything is backwards. Everything is upside down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the major media destroy information, and religion destroys spirituality.” Michael Ellner
What is the future you want for yourself and our future generations?
Humanity is at a crossroad but many of us do not even know we have a choice. In the final cut of our crowd actualized video about the Future of Work, more than 20 people from around the world shared their takes. We thank Justyn Koh for his awesome work and everyone featured for coming forward.
We hope the video gives you some food for thought about how going forward, business C A N N O T be as usual.
The worst case scenario: “Basically everybody (is) working for 16 to 20 hours a day for very little pay, doing repetitive tasks that for one reason or another, computers can’t do. And these will be the lucky people, because at least they’re employed.” Douglas Rushkoff
Based on the future that is being built today:
“We’re pawning ourselves just to live. We sell ourselves cheap, and the profits we earn are funnelled upwards where they’re loaned right back to us at crippling interest, keeping ourselves selling us cheap just to pay the bills. And on and on it goes.” Umair Haque
“Soon, the very objects that we consider most personal and physical — the bathroom scales with which we measure our weight, the toothbrush we use to brush our teeth, and so on — will be connected to the Internet and collecting and collating data. We will know our precise health state, and so will our doctor. So will our friends, via social media. They may know our emotions, precisely. For better or worse, we are engendering a culture in which information is cheap and is passed freely. Even experiences that are private because of their phenomenology — eating, sleeping, dreaming — will become public because of how we document them.”
In the next five to 10 years, Mark Zuckerberg thinks AI will start outperforming humans at core things that we do like “basic human senses like seeing, hearing, language.”
Can we make the shift to the Age of We?
When we have the courage to gift our unique gifts and talents to the world for everyone’s benefit, the abundant Age of We will emerge
The Age of Me culture is quite linear as it only recognizes money making super chickens. Because everyone’s different and there is no one way of doing, this has created a 21st century Tower of Babel as well as confused too many people into inertia.
To empower you to better understand some social experiments/ movements in the shift to the Age of We, I will show by doing more. To share my observations of human behavior towards our shared future, I will start working on a book about the shift that’s happening from the ground up. To kickstart how:
“Each of us has the perfect gift to give the world. It’s what we were born with … if we are able to each give what’s so uniquely ours — won’t we be able to create magic for and with each other?”
I hope to share a broad diversity of social experiments and movements and they will inspire and galvanize you to start thinking about how you too can be a part of the shift.
For starters, even though we have not met, Enric Duran Giralt, 21st century Robin Hood, and Michel Bauwens, president of P2P Foundation, will inspire by sharing how they start and sustain their movements.
Our broad manuscript outline for “The shift to the Age of We: Building communities from the ground up” book
The Age of We
Future of work (Commons/P2P)
Future of money (Technology/ Platform coops)
Future of education
Future of living (Gift/sacred economies)
Future of food
Starting and sustaining social movements featuring Michel Bauwens and Enric Duran Giralt, among others
For true change to occur, we need to come together as human beings. To discover that life’s not about ourselves and our loved ones but about investing in everyone. That if we don’t move others forward as we move forward, we haven’t quite done our job as human beings. That no matter how different we are, all of us have something meaningful to contribute to society. When we can do that, we will be able to truly cherish diversity in one another.
We have not decided whether to gift the ebook and/or have proceeds from the book fund the next phase of this social experiment so likeminded people who maybe struggling financially are not left out. Maybe we can collectively and openly build a fund to fund Age of We projects too??
Everything will continue to evolve.
But if you or someone you know has done a social experiment or movement that can nudge humanity into the Age of We space and would like to be in the book, do get in touch at crowdpowers @> gmail.com by June 4, 2016.
Comments/suggestions are also MOST welcome.
“There needs to be a shift in consciousness; there needs to be an absolute wake-up call before society can actually make the kind of incredibly significant changes that need to happen.” Annie Lennox
Will we ever be able to live in a society where our real self can emerge without fear of rejection, condemnation or judgment? When our authenticity is understood and appreciated so we can live life without our masks?
That’s the biggest decision we can ever make for ourselves and our future generations.
Who will own our future? Are you ready to start making a difference?
If you are unlearning to relearn your life purpose, share the experience of your mindset shift in a video clip of no more than 20 seconds (MP4 format, please) by August 19, 2016 and we will compile a video to salute all of you. Together, let’s inspire one another so the Age of We may become a reality for us and our future generations.
